The student chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects provides a welcoming group to help integrate into the department. The chapter leaders plan numerous activities throughout the year to help new students get involved and provide fun activities and breaks from classes.

Last year the student chapter of ASLA worked on two community service projects by providing new gardens at the CAPSA shelter and a Habitat for Humanity home.

They also held a fundraising seminar and brought in Mike Lin for a graphics workshop. An Aggie Bull was created from willow branches to sell for garden art. Membership fees are used to provide food and drinks for weekly “coffee breaks”. During the holidays the organizers will also come up with games and contests for the participants at coffee break, or cook a full holiday meal.

In the spring before the end of the year, the chapter coordinates events such as a BarB-Q in the park or breakfast cooked by the faculty during LAEP week.
