ARTICLE I
Purpose
The MASA is an organization representing all Malaysian students. It shall provide a platform where student concerns shall be heard. It shall endeavor to sponsor, promote and coordinate activities designed to encourage communication, and further the understanding of various ethnic groups. 

The following activities represent an effort to promote inter cultural understanding within the academic community, among the people of this State, and the various ethnic groups: 

a. Cultural Events
b. Educational Events
c. Sporting Events
d. Promote International Understanding


ARTICLE II
Members

Section 1.  Any Malaysian student as well as Utah State University students shall be eligible for membership. To become a member, one must apply through the Treasurers.

Section 2. The annual fee shall be US$10 per year. This fee is distributed as follow: 

Fall semester   $4.00
Spring semester $4.00
Summer semester $2.00

ARTICLE III
Officers

Section 1. The officers of this Association shall be as follow:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Assistant Secretary
Treasurer Assistant Treasurer
Activities Coordinator
Web Manager
Assistant Web Manager
Official Photographer
Those officers shall perform duties prescribe by these bylaws and by the parliamentary authority adopted by the Association. 

Section 2. All officers must be currently enrolled at Utah State University. 

Section 3. The officers shall be elected by the members to serve for one year until their successor are elected, and their term of office shall beginning of Summer semester. 

Section 4. Special committees shall be established to carry out special assignment. 

ARTICLE IV
Meetings
Section 1. The meeting on MAY shall be known as the annual meeting and shall be for the purpose of electing officers, receiving reports from officers, and for any other business that might arise. 

Section 2. Special meetings may be called by the President or the other officers of the Association. The purpose of the meeting shall be stated in the call. Expect in the cases of emergency, at least three days notice shall be given. 

Section 3. The first meeting of each semester shall occur within a week of the first day of classes. However, this is subject to changes. 

ARTICLE V
Amendments
Amendments to this constitution may be proposed by one of the following procedures: 
    • The request of the MASA Officer Council.
    • Initiative petition signed by at least one third (1/3) of members.
    The ratification of amendments shall require a majority of two thirds (2/3) of the official representative present. Contrary votes and abstentions shall be recorded in the minutes.
