A FEW NOTES:
If a student applies for a Social Secutiry number and obtains a receipt, then his/her work authorization for on-campus work can be processed, however, he/she must still wait for their actual Social Security card before a payroll check can be issued.

If the student has an on-campus job, his/her Social Security card will say Not Valid For Employment. He/she is allowed to work on-campus only. If he/she later obtains off-campus authorization, the student must take their old Social Security card and work authorization to the Social Security office and obtain a new card (will have the same number).

If someone is working on-campus and Payroll has Social Security and FICA taxes taken out, then the money can be returned with the permission of payroll.

If the student has an off-campus job and the employer will not assist the student in getting FICA taxes returned, the student may get the necessary form from ISO.
