MISSION STATEMENT
Makerere University Biological Field Station

Makerere University Biological Field Station (MUBFS) is committed to providing opportunities for quality multi-disciplinary research and education in tropical ecosystems with particular emphasis on Kibale National Park. The activities of the Station will be conducted at various scales to promote the long-term viability of these ecosystems and contribute to the development of present and future generations. To this end, we will seek to attract and maintain a diverse and complementary team of researchers and staff. Because of the Station's long history of research and geographic location in one of the few remaining mid-altitude tropical moist forests of East Africa, we will continue to provide unique opportunities for further research and training.

We are responsive to the groups we serve, including national and international research communities, resource managers, interested government departments and institutions, funding agencies, and the general public. Our fundamental commitment is to the conservation of biological diversity and maintenance of ecosystem health. To achieve this mission we will maintain a professional environment based on cooperation, mutual respect, trust, and an open exchange of ideas and knowledge.
