  Instrumental Conducting Ensemble

Instrumental Conducting Ensemble (MUSC 2210-001). . .

is a non-auditioned group expressly formed as a lab ensemble for MUSC 4240, Advanced Instrumental Conducting, holding its inaugural concert on October 14, 2004. The group rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 to 12:20.

The ensemble performs one concert on minor instruments to emphasize pedagogy of teaching young students and one concert on major instruments to emphasize the expressive art of conducting and interpretation. Thus, students leave the course with knowledge of young band literature, instrumental pedagogy, musical form, concert preparation, programming, and rehearsal techniques, along with advanced practical experience with the expressive art of conducting.
