Brassed Furnace for Brass Ensemble (2004)

Brassed Furnace begins with two reflective statements of a theme based on the pitches Eb, E, C, and F. The first statement is by a lone trumpet, and it gives way to the second statement, a horn/euphonium collaboration. Two more permutations of the theme follow, first with the stability of a euphonium ostinato and then in augmentation by the low brass.
Although in the same meter, a transparent section then appears, defined by a 3/8 undulating feel, which leads to a majestic climax. The ostinato then returns (this time in the tuba), with a driving 3/4 version of the original theme and ascending to a final triplet fanfare to a grand flourish.
