The USU Bands host three band festivals each spring for school-age ensembles. These events annually host over 30 school bands from Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming, totaling over 1500 students that come to the USU campus. Junior High/Middle School Band Festival: Provides adjudication for junior high and middle school bands through tape-recorded comments by qualified adjudicators. Junior High/Middle School Band Clinic: Provides adjudication for junior high and middle school bands through tape-recorded comments by qualified adjudicators as well as live rehearsal clinics with the USU Band Faculty.
High School Band Festival: Provides live rehearsal clinics with USU Band Faculty and/or guest clinicians from around the country. In spring 2003, we inaugurated a “clinician option” for one of our junior high/middle school festivals, leaving the other as a performance option with taped comments for those satisfied with the current format. The “clinician option” occurred the week after spring exams, thus allowing use of the whole facility including an additional rehearsal room for live rehearsal with a clinician following the on-stage performance with taped comments. The high school festival currently uses a similar clinician offering on the actual performance stage. This helped us better serve the attending bands by providing more diversity of offerings from which individual directors can choose. |
To Attend One of Our Festivals: We will send mass mailings to tri-state schools in February, but applications are available NOW online Write or call for more information: University Bands |
