Lars Yorgason teaches applied bass, coaches a student jazz combo, and performs with the USU Faculty Jazz Combo. As Vice-President of Jazz Arts of the Mountain West and a highly sought-after freelance bassist, Lars is in touch with most jazz musicians in Utah, and works to spread interest in jazz in schools and among the general public. Yorgason has performed with many of the all-time jazz greats in America, including Clark Terry, Milt Jackson, Kenny Burrell, Al Grey, Eddie Daniels, Kevin Mahogany, Ira Nepus, and John Stowell, just to name a few. Lars has taught jazz at the University of Utah, Weber State University, and 15 years at BYU. He is currently writing two books: A History of Jazz in Utah, and a History of the Musicians’ Union in Utah.
