A filled state STM image of a Si(100)-2x1 monohydride surface after rows of H atoms being removed by the electrons from the STM tip at a sample voltage of 3V via the multiple vibrational excitation. The lines are 3nm apart and the tip moved from the left side of a dimer row to the right side of the dimer row. Rows of single protrusions indicate only a single H atom was removed from a dimer while the brighter sections with twice width indicate both H atoms were removed from a dimer.
