Research Highlights

A Si(100)-2x1 surface saturately dosed by a large flux of phosphine at room temperature. The phosphine coverage is ~ 0.2ML. The surface is covered uniformly with gray protrusions, mostly PHx adsorption sites against a darker background of H-terminated Si dimmers. The bright spots are due to ejected Si adatoms with PHx adsorbed.
