POW-WOW RULES AT USU DANCE CONTEST RULES: All contestants must be registered in only one category and receive their number. The number must be displayed on the left side where judges can see it. Contestants will earn points for participating in the grand entry No tennis shoes. No choice of drum for contest. No smoking, no drinking (alcohol), no illegal drugs. No chewing gum or tobacco Contestants will be responsible for their numbers and keep the same number for the afternoon and evening sessions. Be respectful to other dancers. After the contest dance, contestants will line up in front of the announcer's stand REASONS FOR DISQUALIFICATION: Under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Inappropriate conduct. DRUM RULES: All singers/drummers must be ready to sing when called upon. No singing while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Keep drum area clean. Be respectful for other drums. TABULATION RULES: Pow-Wow Committee use Computer tabulators during the contest. All tabulation are not to be discussed with anyone, other than the tabulation committee. JUDGING RULES: All judges will stand on the outside of the arena during the contest dance. Judges are not allowed to judge family members who are contesting. |
