Transsexualism
- There is no clear understanding of the nature o\and etiology of transsexualism to date (Lothstein, 1984).
- Many transsexuals:
- Develop a sense of being at odds with their genital anatomy in e\very early childhood (5 - 7 years of age).
- Discomfort may be partially relieved by imagining themselves to be members of the other sex.
- Eventually progress to actual cross-dressing.
