Tips for Parenting of a Transfer Student


Tell Your Student about the Online Transfer Student Orientation

While orientation is not required for transfer students, it is highly recommended that transfer students go through the free online transfer student orientation at http://www.usu.edu/transfer/orientation. This will help them understand the academic policies and procedures of USU, as well as know how to contact an advisor, how credits will transfer to USU, and how to register for classes. There is also an on-campus orientation for transfer students who would like to come to campus.


Encourage Your Student to Get Involved at USU

USU has many clubs and student organizations. Getting involved and meeting new people is one of the best ways for your student to make USU feel like home. If your student isn’t sure where to start, have them visit the Student Involvement and Leadership Center in Taggart Student Center room 326.
