Come visit your student on a beautiful fall weekend in Logan at Utah State University's annual Parent & Family Weekend, November 1-2, 2013! We have specifically planned a library reception and lecture so you can meet other Aggies and interact with campus staff. There are also several campus and community events happening the weekend of November 1-2, so you are welcome to create your own schedule that includes activities you like and gives you a sampling of life at USU. Check back often as we will be adding additional campus and community events happening this weekend.

While there are several campus and community activities happening during Parent & Family Weekend, we have specifically planned a library reception and lecture (bolded below) to give you opportunities to meet with other Aggie families and interact with campus staff. Below is a full list of activities happening that weekend, and more are sure to be added as the weekend gets closer.

Parent and Family Weekend Library Reception, USU Merrill-Cazier Library, 7:30-9 p.m. (free, pre-registration required)

This reception will include doughnuts, cider, and tours of the USU Library. Tours will include a look at the robotic book retrieval system, the Hatch Room with authentic medieval furnishings, and the skull of famed grizzly bear Old Ephraim. The event is free to parents and their students.

Pre-registration is required.

Women's Soccer vs. Boise State, Bell Soccer Field, 3 p.m. (free)

Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field- 1400 North and approx. 1100 East

Cheer the women's soccer team as they take on Boise State in the final game before heading to the Mountain West Tournament. This event is free and no ticket is required.

Museum and Music, Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, 4-5 p.m. ($3 suggested donation)

Visit the on-campus Museum of Art for the weekly Museum and Music event. The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and exhibiting modern and contemporary visual art. No reservation required, $3/person suggested donation.

USU Anthropology Museum: Dr. Stacy Schaefer Talk about Shamanism, Old Main 252, 6 p.m. (free)

Visit the on-campus Anthropology Museum and listen to visiting scholar Dr. Stacy Schaefer from California State University Chico as she talks about Shamanism. The Anthropology Museum is located in Old Main 252. This event is free and no advance registration or ticket is required.

Men's Basketball vs. Adams State, exhibition game, Smith Spectrum, 7-9:30 p.m.($17-19)

Join your student as they cheer on the men's basketball team! Participate in the famous "I Believe" chant, and experience the fun atmosphere of the Smith Spectrum on game night.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.utahstateaggies.com/. The date of sale for individual tickets for this game has not been determined. More ticketing information will be posted here as soon as it is available, and will be included on the pre-event email sent mid-October.

USU Hockey vs. Utah, Eccles Ice Arena 2825 N 200 E, 7p.m.

Join your student at the Eccles Ice Arena as the Aggies take on the rival Utes. This game will sell out quickly that evening, so it is recommended you purchase tickets in advance. More ticketing information will be posted here as soon as it is available, and will be included on the pre-event email sent mid-October.

Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway, Eccles Theatre 43 S Main, 7:30-9:30 ($30-44- student discount available)

100 Years of Broadway recreates the greatest moments from the finest shows of the century featuring the actual stars of shows such as The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, CATS, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Jekyll & Hyde. These amazing performers light up the stage with songs from the hit shows in which they starred. Neil Berg presents brilliantly revived arrangements of Broadway classics as well as thrilling numbers from Broadways newest hit shows. Past productions of this popular show have featured Betty Buckley, Liz Callaway, Ben Vereen, and Alex Santoriello among others. Along with musical director and pianist Neil Berg, *Cast is subject to change based upon possible Broadway and touring developments.

USU Theatre production of the Musical "A Catered Affair," Morgan Theatre, 7:30-10 p.m. ($15-18- free for students)

A Catered Affair tells the story of a Bronx mother's efforts to give her only daughter the elaborate wedding she never had – and the bride never asked for. In this funny, poignant and oh-so-human show of love and disaffection, Harvey Fierstein's book and John Bucchino's score explore both our need for love and the true meaning of family.

Antics Comedy Improv, Whittier Community Center 290 N 400 E, 9:30-10:30 p.m. ($5)

The Antics improv troupe is a short- and long-form improv group that performs every Friday night at the Whittier Community Center located at 290 North 400 East in Logan.

All of their shows are family-friendly, and tickets can be purchased at the door using cash or card.

Parent and Family Weekend Lecture on the History of USU by Dr. F. Ross Peterson, ESLC 130, 9:30-11:00 a.m. (free)

Join other Aggie families as you listen to a lecture on the History of USU by beloved Professor of History, F. Ross Peterson. Dr. Peterson is one of the nation's foremost historians. He has taught history at USU for over 40 years, taking a brief break to serve as president of Deep Springs College in California from 2004-2007. He has retired several times from USU, but keeps coming back to teach history courses due to popular demand. This event is free and open to all Parent and Family Weekend participants, and there will be a drawing for door prizes. Pastries, coffee, and juice will be provided in the lobby at 9:30 a.m. and the lecture will begin at 10:00 a.m.

USU Anthropology Museum Family Saturday- Program on Papua New Guinea, Old Main 252, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (free)

Anthropologists have long traveled to Papua New Guinea to study the diverse cultural groups. Come see the museum's new collection of objects from this island nation and learn about its amazing 50,000 year history. Free and open to the public-geared toward young children. No tickets are required. The Anthropology Museum is located in Old Main room 252.

Football vs. Hawaii, Romney Stadium, 2 p.m.
($15 general admission after Parent & Family Weekend discount-free for students)

Join your student as they cheer on the Aggies as they take on Hawaii in Mountain West Conference play!

You can purchase your discounted tickets online at www.utahstateaggies.com/. Individual tickets for this game go on sale September 30. The promotional access code will be emailed to registered Parent and Family Weekend participants on that date. The discount only applies to online, advance purchases. Remember that students get into the general admission area for free with their USU ID card.
