Are you currently pursuing a degree in political science? Are you perhaps just considering political science as a major or a minor? Are you interested in opportunities to interact with other political science students and faculty? If so, then we invite you to apply for membership in Pi Sigma Alpha.

What is Pi Sigma Alpha?

Pi Sigma Alpha is a national political science honor society based in Washington D.C.. Its chapters are established in colleges and universities of accredited and recognized standing which offer a prescribed minimum program in political science. PSA is a prestigious organization that both encourages interaction among political science students and recognizes their achievements. Pi Sigma Alpha has approximately 25,000 members nationally, and the Alpha Iota chapter at Utah State presently has nearly 30.

Why Should I join?

Membership in an honor society accentuates intellectual achievement. Membership in PSA is a definete asset for students when applying for jobs, graduate school, law school, or other professionally oriented applications. In fact, the Federal Civil Service equates membership in Pi Sigma Alpha with elevated GS ratings and higher salaries for new employees.

In addition to resume enhancement, membership in Pi Sigma Alpha Provides students with intellectual opportunities outside of the classroom and enables them to collectively pursue activities that would be impossible otherwise. For example, the Alpha Iota chapter of PSA co-published the first edition of The Utah State Student Review, affording students the opportunity to have some of their written work published. PSA also enhances the regular academic curriculum by sponsoring distinguished guest lectures and seminars.

Finally, membership in PSA is a wonderful social opportunity! In the past, PSA has sponsored student and faculty socials, election night parties, formal banquets, and picnics.
