Robert Peterson, Director of Student Services, Uinta Basin Campus
Prior to Fall semester 2009, the Uintah Basin Scholarship Committee, supported by Dean Wes Holley, implemented a new recruitment/retention scholarship for new students attending the Uintah Basin Campus. These $500 scholarships were awarded by the Uintah Basin Regional Campus faculty members to new, transfer, or returning (absence of one year) students who had not been awarded other scholarships.
As a result, the following 11 scholarships were awarded to students by faculty members within their major areas:
| # | Major | Faculty Member |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Wildlife Science | Rich Etchberger |
| 5 | Business | Dave Woolstenhulme |
| 1 | MIS | Karen Woolstenhulme |
| 1 | Biology | Lianna Etchberger |
| 1 | FCHD | David Law |
| 1 | Math | Greg Wheeler |
| 1 | Math | Pattie Hayes |
The success of this scholarship is measured by the number of students that faculty members themselves can recruit and retain within their departments. This enhances the cohesion between faculty members and students, and thus builds relationships to encourage students to continue their education.
Preparations are underway to offer additional scholarships for Spring semester 2010. For more information, contact Robert Peterson at (435) 722-1775.
