University Retention Committee
The mission of the University Retention Committee is to provide campus-wide leadership to advocate and implement student retention strategies and initiatives. The committee assists in the development, implementation, and assessment of strategies, programs, resources, and activities that support and facilitate the success of students at USU. The committee consists of administrators, faculty and staff committed to the success of all USU students from their first semester through graduation.
Matriculation Advising
USU's Matriculation Advisor facilitates the retention effort through managing the Leave of Absence Process. As part of this process, students who need to leave USU are "recruited" back through targeted e-mails, letters, and personal phone calls. Additionally, the Matriculation Advisor oversees readmission process of students who are not in academic good standing at USU, seeing the student to good standing, through readmission contracts and work with the student's academic advisor.
Parent's Programs
The parent's website, http://www.usu.edu/parents/ and our parent program is to keep parents and family informed about happenings at USU, provide valuable information and support for parents, provide an opportunity and outlet for parents to communicate with the university, and enlist the support and engagement of parents in their students' experience.
SOAR
Retention and Student Success provides orientation services to new first-year and transfer students, information concerning USU programs, and information about available services at the University. While participating in this mandatory program, students register for classes, meet with an academic advisor, become familiar with university academic requirements and policies, and engage with student mentors.
Aggie Passport Experience

Early Alert
The Early Alert Program is designed to identify students who are having academic difficulty at any point in their four years at USU. By identifying these students, the staff of the Office Retention and Student Success can attempt to address their needs, thereby increasing the likelihood of their success. The primary goal of this program is to assist faculty and staff in improving the motivation and performance of underachieving students in an effort to better USU's retention of these students.
