Driver training and testing is now available on-line!

Important Rule Change - The on-line driver training must be completed by all persons driving on University business every 2 years. (This is a change from the old 3 year requirement for some drivers, and annual training requirement for people who drive as a regular part of the job.) If you have questions, please call the University Risk Management Office at 435-797-1844.

Driver Training Procedure:

  1. Go to http://risk.utah.gov/loss/DriverVideoTest.html
  2. View The Video
  3. Take the online test. (Warning - the test is challenging, reference the Utah driver's handbook when taking the test.)
  4. Print the "Certificate of Completion". Keep the certificate on file with your department. Departments are responsible for insuring compliance with the training requirement.

If you are a new USU driver you must also complete a "Drivers Authorization" form. Send this form and a copy of your Certificate of Completion of Driver training to the Motor Pool at UMC 9000.

Drivers Training. State Risk Management has indicated that they are working on releasing an on-line version of the required drivers training in the summer of 2009. This product should be available to anyone with an internet connection. You can watch the video on-line, take the test and print the completion certificate for your file. Let's cross our fingers that the state can get this done. It will certainly make all of our lives easier.

Proposed changes to regulations. Presently, drivers are required to take driver training every year if the drive a University vehicle "Frequently". All others are required to take the training every three (3) years. There has been a lot of confusion over what 'Frequently" is. The proposed change would make the training requirement every two (2) years for everyone. Please contact me at Joe.Dulin@usu.edu if you have a comment about the proposed change.
