SAAVI Program Structure
The crux of the SAAVI program is the SAAVI Office itself, which is housed within the Student Health and Wellness Center. In order to support the SAAVI Office, Utah State University has established a committee structure. This committee structure consists of a University-Wide Committee which provides general oversight; an Executive Committee which develops and proposes policies for the consideration of the University-Wide Committee; and the SAAVI Committee which works to enhance procedures and programs for students, faculty, and staff.
- University-Wide Committee provides oversight to the program and considers policies brought to it by the SAAVI Executive Committee (SEC). The University-Wide Committee can accept, modify, or decline policy recommendations proposed by the SEC. Policy recommendations accepted by this committee are then forwarded to the President's Executive Committee for its consideration. The UWC will have representation from student services, ASUSU, academics, administration, athletics, AA/EO Office, public relationships, legal counsel, professional and classified staff, faculty and the local community.
- SAAVI Executive Committee formulates policies for consideration by the University-Wide Committee. Membership of this committee will consist of the University-Wide committee Co-chairs, the SAAVI Coordinator, a representative from the SAAVI Committee.
- SAAVI Committee is chaired by the SAAVI Coordinator. The purpose of this committee is to develop strategies and initiatives that contribute to creating healthy relationships and violence-free environments and to preventing sexual assault, rape, and other forms of violence by and against students, faculty, and staff. A second focus of this committee is to implement the university sexual assault response protocol for students. Entities that form the SAAVI Committee are as follows:
- SAAVI Coordinator is responsible for coordinating educational and intervention strategies, programs and services focused on prevention of sexual and interpersonal relationships for the campus community. The Coordinator is the primary contact for victims of violence at USU, and becomes the first point of contact for referral and advocacy.
- SAAVI Intern is responsible to assist the SAAVI Coordinator in coordinating educational and intervention strategies, programs and services focused on prevention of sexual and interpersonal relationships for the campus community. The intern is the secondary contact for victims of violence at USU, and also functions as a point-of-contact for referral and advocacy.
