Rape Aggression Defense

The R.A.D. Class is a LADIES ONLY course. The objective of the R.A.D. Program is to develop and enhance the options of self-defense, so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked. You will learn how to use your personal weapons against abduction. The class consists of some lectures, but most of the time will be learning defensive techniques. The final class will be the simulation, where you will put your newly learned skills to the test in real life scenarios.

At Utah State University, the R.A.D. program is organized and overseen by the University Police Department. The SAAVI Coordinator is one of several R.A.D. instructors on campus.

USU women may take R.A.D. for PE credit (PE 1400) during Fall and Spring semesters (if you are registering for this class, make sure to select one of the R.A.D. sections).

If a group of 10 or more women are interested in taking a non-credit version of R.A.D., a 7-week condensed course is available upon request (there is a $40 charge for the non-credit course, $20 will be refunded to each student who completes the course.)

For more information, you may contact the University Police Department, or email the SAAVI Office.
