Service Learning Scholars Application
Admission to USU Service-Learning Scholars academic program is competitive and limited to 20 students each year (with a maximum of 100 S-L Scholars enrolled at any one time). To be considered for admission, you must have at least one semester of full-time college credits:
- have a 3.0 cumulative USU/Transfer GPA
- Submit a written essay (1000-word limit) detailing your interest in become a Service-Learning Scholar. Essay should include how you became aware of the SLS program, what you hope to accomplish within this program and how you may benefit from and contribute to the local community including our campus community and the community of Scholars.
- Provide a reference from someone (i.e. faculty member or supervisor) who can speak from experience in terms of your potential success in making significant and sustainable contributions to the community. Reference should fill out the form below (a button to click on reference for will need to be created)
To earn the Service-Learning Certificate, you must complete a minimum of nine Service-Learning credit hours of approved service-learning courses (with a grade of B or better in each course), record 400 service hours through AGS (link), and develop and complete a senior capstone project and a reflective portfolio. All hours appropriately reported through AGS during the semester of admission into the SLS Program will be accepted.
For Fall Admission: apply prior to the first week of October
For Spring Admission: apply prior to the last week of February
