Do not go home every weekend, you will miss the college experience. Get involved; go to games, activities, dances, etc. Always try to make new friends: not only will they help with your social life, but they might know answers when you struggle with certain academic subjects.

Don't cram for tests!! Actually take the time to learn the information in your classes, even if you think you'll never use it again. You never know when it will be helpful to know how to mathematically figure the flight plan of a fly.

Most people come to college because of encouragement, but if college was a chosen choice the opportunities are limitless in the eyes of the beholder. Come to Utah State University and watch as your opportunities complete the life you have always dreamed of.

Find a good stress-relieving activity, whether it's jogging, playing the piano or guitar, going on a walk, rock-climbing, playing a sport, or listening to music. When the homework's piling on or the roommates are getting on the nerves, take a half an hour or so to do something you enjoy and shed off that layer of stress.

Find a place to study either on campus or at home that aids concentration and productivity. Make time to get involved and be social. Studying and school should be the first priority, of course, but when you can set aside some time to get involved with all the great things going on on-campus it makes your college experience so much more enjoyable and memorable.

Break up big tasks into small chunks. Procrastination is one of the hardest things to stop doing, but if you can, you will be much happier and less stressed while at college.

Keep your life balanced. Dive too deep into school and you'll go a little nuts, stay social and you'll do better in you classes. Don't get too social or you'll end up failing you classes.

Don't be afraid to raise your hand in class and ask questions. The worst thing is getting home from class and realizing that you didn't understand what was covered.

Work hard and give it your all. College can be challenging, but it’s doable. There are definitely going to be times in classes were you may feel overwhelmed and want to quit, but you have to push through. Don’t be afraid to use the student resources on campus designed to help you. The rewards you will receive after completing whatever challenge you face will be your own reward.
