University Deposit
As an incoming freshman, you are required to reserve your spot at Utah State by paying a $100 University Deposit. You will pay your deposit when you sign up for SOAR (Enrollment Confirmation). Your SOAR fee is taken from this deposit, and the remaining balance will be in your student account when you pay tuition and/or fees. If you are transferring with more than 24 post-high school credits (not counting AP or concurrent enrollment), you are not required to complete SOAR or pay the university deposit.
The Purpose of the Deposit
The deposit serves as a down payment for your tuition and fees and indicates that you plan to attend Utah State. The earlier you commit to attend, the better university staff can prepare to meet your needs relating to course availability and advising. If you pay the deposit and register for SOAR before the early deadline (April 1 for Fall Semester) you will be allowed to submit an early registration request. First-year students are typically not allowed to register for classes until they participate in SOAR.
Methods of Payment
After you submit your SOAR registration (enrollment confirmation) you will be given the link and instructions to create your USU password. Once you have created your password you will be given the link to log into the TouchNet payment system to pay your University Deposit (also called the SOAR deposit). You can pay by using the following:
- Electronic Check (recommended)
- MasterCard, Discover, or American Express credit or debit cards (2.75% convenience fee charged on top of transaction)
- Cash (delivered to the SOAR office in Taggart Student Center room 310 only)
If you have already signed up for SOAR and need to pay the deposit, you can log into Touchnet by going to http://www.usu.edu/myusu and clicking on "Login to Touchnet (payment system)." Use your A-number and the password you created when you signed up for SOAR to log into Touchnet. You must be admitted to the correct term in order to pay your deposit.
Scholarship Recipients
If you have a full scholarship, you will still pay the $100 deposit to reserve your spot at USU and any money from the deposit not applied to the charges listed above will be refunded when classes begin. This applies to all students, including varsity athletes and presidential scholarship recipients.
Deadlines and Cancellations
It is to your advantage to sign up for SOAR and pay the University Deposit as soon as possible. SOAR dates are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a better selection of classes toward the beginning of the SOAR sessions.
If you miss the final May 1 SOAR registration deadline, you will still pay the $100 University Deposit and register for SOAR. You will not submit an early registration request, but you will have plenty of assistance at SOAR as you select your classes.
The University Deposit is non-refundable after May 1. If you decide not to attend Utah State University, give us a call at (800) 606-4878 to arrange for a refund. If you decide not to attend Utah State after the May 1 deadline, the $100 is non-refundable, but we would still like to hear from you and update our records.
