I receive a "Floating Point Divide by 0" error when opening a new setup.

This problem occurs because of a Windows "Regional Configuration" error. WinTDR interprets decimal (floating point) numbers with a '.' not a ',' In the Windows Regional Settings make sure that it is allowed to use a '.' with decimal numbers.

I want to retrieve a waveform with more than 251 points. How do I do it?

Use "Probe Lists." Configure the first probe in the list to retrieve the first segment of the total waveform (this includes ensuring it is offsetting and calibrations of length and impedance are done correctly). Copy this probe and paste it in each probe in the probe list.  Starting with the second probe in the list: rename each probe as desired; take the cursor position of the previous probe + (10 * Dist/Div) and put that value in the cursor position of the probe.

At this point, if you do an automated reading of the "Probe List" each probe will be swept in succession and the waveform values will be output to the .wv file. To create the waveform with more than 251 points, all you have to do is 'tape' each probe's waveform together.

In the future, we hope to remove probe lists for retrieving long waveforms (waveforms with more than 251 points). Rather the user will be able to select how many points they wish to retrieve and WinTDR will tape them together automatically.

REQUIREMENTS / FEATURES

Can WinTDR run on Windows CE (Palm PC's)?

WinTDR was designed to run on Windows 9x, ME, NT, 2000, and XP. It will not run on Pocket/Palm PC's using Windows CE or any other operating system other than the aforementioned Windows Operating Systems.

What system requirements are needed to run WinTDR?

Recommended Requirements:

  • Pentium class (or better) Processor (it will run on 486 processors, but it is not recommended)
  • Serial Port required for TDR connectivity (must be registered as a COM port in Windows System)
  • Parallel Port required for Multiplexing
  • 32 Mb RAM
  • 2 Mb Hard drive space for installation (waveforms / analysis require more)
  • Tektronix 150X B/C TDR with the Tektronix SP232 interface
