Program Objectives
Objective 1 - Recruit and Select: The Utah State University SSS Program will recruit and select 190 participants by October 15 of each year. Sixty-seven percent (67%) will be both low-income and first-generation or individuals with disabilities; and thirty-three percent (33%) will be low-income, or first-generation, or individuals with disabilities. In addition, at least thirty-three percent (33%) of the individuals with disabilities will also be low-income.
Objective II - Needs Assessment: Conduct a needs assessment and develop an Individual Education Plan for 100% of new participants within four weeks of project acceptance.
Objective III - Campus Climate: Promote a campus climate that is sensitive to the values of cultural diversity and to members of traditionally underrepresented groups.
Objective IV - Persistence: At least seventy percent (70%) of the SSS participants will persist in school through Fall Semester of the next year.
Objective V - GPA: At least sixty-five percent (65%) of project participants will earn an annual average GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4-point scale. Fifty-five percent (55%) of participants persisting to graduation will earn an average GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4-point scale.
Objective VI - Graduation: At least fifty-five (55%) of senior participants who are within 20 credits of graduation will graduate each year, excluding transfers and those who exit USU for reasons of health or death.
Objective VII - Post-Graduate Studies: At least fifteen percent (15%) of the participants who graduate with a B.S. or B.A. degree will gain admission to a post-baccalaureate program.
