The Office of Study Abroad coordinates the placement abroad of more than 300 students each year. Students can spend a short-term or semeter abroad to study coursework taught in English or a second language, build emerging language skills, participate in a USU faculty-led program, volunteer to teach English, complete an internship, and more.

Close to 100 students participate in semester study abroad programs with USU partner programs in such countries as: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, France, Finland, Ghana, Japan, Korea, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and more. Students earn credit toward graduation at USU, and graduate on time.

Over 250 students participate in short term or summer faculty-led programs to such locations as Chile,China, France, Germany, Peru, Switzerland, and Thailand, or other short-term summer offerings at partner institutions. Many of these programs provide opportunities for second language acquisition, but other offerings also include courses in acting, anthropology, Asian studies, busines, fine arts, graphic design, history, and literature.

In addition, the Office of Study Abroad Office assists over 70 Exchange students each year, who come to study at USU for a semester or academic year through partnership agreements with international institutions and programs.

Student numbers and interest continue to grow each year, and it is expected that study abroad numbers will soon exceed 500 students per year.
