How to Begin

  1. Find out about programs.
  2. Choose a program. Guidelines are available here.

Make sure you meet the application deadline for your particular program. Also consider our seven affiliated program providers with more study, volunteer, or internship programs.

  3. Complete the approriate application

Be sure to check deadlines for applications and complete the USU application appropriate for the semester or summer program you choose. Contact us for the particular partner institution application required for a completed application package.

  4. Arrange Financing

Check out our exchange programs with partner institutions (based on USU tuition costs). The International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) partner program (based on USU tuition, housing and food expenses.) USU financial aid and scholarships apply nearly 100% of the time for all partner and affiliated programs. Apply for other study abroad specific scholarships.

Admission to all programs is based, minimally, on a review of your completed application, taking into consideration available openings for that program and deadline requirements. You must be in good academic standing, with the minimum overall GPA as determined for the program, at the time of application. If you will participate on a partner institution program, or a faculty led program, you will be notified by USU regarding your USU acceptance, two to three weeks after the application deadline. Final acceptance by the program partner is usually a formality and will occur 4-6 weeks after the program application deadline.
