Email Carol Massanari
Carol began her professional career as an elementary teacher before entering the field of special education.
She received Master of Art and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in special education from the University of New Mexico.
During her doctorate program, her focus included an emphasis in educational administration as her minor course of
studies, through her assistantship, and in her internship. She has classroom experience in a variety of special
education delivery modes (from itinerant to self-contained) as well as experience as a local district director of
special education programs. Additionally, she has studied and worked in Nicaragua as part of her bachelor degree
program and taught in Labrador, Canada. She has also been a technical assistance provider at the Mid-South Regional
Resource Center as well as a private consultant in organizational development.
As a TA provider, Carol has developed strong facilitation skills. She also brings to each situation strong
leadership skills and a breadth of educational content knowledge. Much of her success can be credited to her
willingness to listen, to share alternate perspectives when needed, to synthesize a variety of ideas/opinions, and
to find compromises and alternatives. Some of her current areas of interest are leadership development, systems
change, instruction, curriculum, behavior, and secondary transition.
