Ron brings varied experiences and skills to Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education. His career spans general and special education teaching in public and private schools, state agency experiences, and training in private industry. Ron possesses a Bachelor's Degree in education and a Master's Degree in special education, both from the University of Nebraska. He started his career as a social science, English, and journalism instructor specializing in American Literature and Government. His special education work centered in both self-contained resource and inclusionary classrooms. He established and supervised the training department in the marketing and advertising division in Nebraska's largest newspaper. In his seven years with the Nebraska Department of Education, Ron's assignments focused on school improvement and reform, accommodations and inclusionary strategies, standards, assessment, and accountability issues for students with disabilities. He has held leadership positions in a variety of professional and church affiliated councils and boards. He is a skilled facilitator. His special interests include standards and assessment, paraeducation, alternate assessment, standards-based IEPs, inclusionary instructional strategies, team-building, and leadership development. Among his guiding principles are, "Be careful what you wish for....you might get it!" and "Honesty is the best policy."
