Module 2 Module 2 - Effective teaching: An Overview Time requirements: This Module will require approximately 12-14 hours. We suggest you complete each assignment in one setting and take a break between assignments. If you can take at least one day between assignments, this distribution of learning will help understanding and retention of the knowledge. Before starting a new assignment a quick review of the knowledge quiz from the previous assignment would help to consolidate knowledge. The final assignment - the module self-check quiz - should be taken at least a day after completing the other assignments. Participant Interests: This module has wide applications, including a. participants teaching all content areas k-12 in general and special education; b. school administrators; c. paraeducators interested in the core concepts and terms used in effective teaching practices and d. parents, school board members and community members interested in a synthesis of the research of the past 30 years identifying the instructional methods consistently used by the most effective teachers. Module Requirements: This module requires considerable participant independence and modest interaction with an instructor or mentor. This module provides a knowledge base of concepts and terms to allow participants to complete later modules involving far more application of ideas and discussions with mentors, instructors and other participants. Inservice Credit: After successful completion of the assignments and the Final Quiz (which will address the same content covered in the module self-check quiz) this staff development experience maybe recorded on your transcript of staff development credits in the Utah State Office of Education.
