For Teaching Coaches


Teaching coaches are experienced colleagues who are meant to help, guide and support the new faculty member as they embrace their teaching responsibilities. Coaches are intended to be a trusted resource that the new faculty member can consult for advice and perspective; someone that the new faculty member can confide in – unencumbered by concerns that the content of their exchanges might someday appear in a formal assessment of their performance. To that end, teaching coaches will be asked to agree, at the beginning of their relationship with their protégé to never participate in the annual reviews of the new faculty member and never to participate in the promotion and tenure review of the new faculty member.
