LOGAN - Utah State University Extension sponsors the Urban and Small Farms Conference Wednesday, Feb. 27, with a pre-conference Organic Farming Workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Both are held at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.

The conference will include information on growing season extension techniques, local food production, small farms and urban farming issues as well as the Utah Berry Growers meetings. Conference tracks include topics such as berries/vegetables, production and direct marketing and management.

According to conference organizer Katie Wagner, USU Extension assistant professor of horticulture, Salt Lake County, the conference will attract a broad range of local food enthusiasts.

“We anticipate growers and producers, representatives from governmental agencies, not-for-profit organizations, food journalists, educators and other food industry professionals to attend,” she said.

Conference registration fees are $20 for the pre-conference and $20 for the Urban and Small Farms Conference if paid before Feb. 12 and $30 each after that date.
