USU EXTENSION CO-SPONSORS DIVERSIFIED AG CONFERENCE

LOGAN ? The 10th annual Diversified Agriculture Conference is held Wednesday, Feb. 20, through Friday, Feb. 22, at Snow College in Ephraim. The conference centers on more than traditional agriculture and is designed to benefit agricultural producers who would like additional tools to help manage their businesses.

This year’s conference features three tracks: direct marketing/alternative enterprises, marketing/management and livestock management. Three tours are held on Wednesday from 1 to 5:30 p.m., and participants can choose from livestock and pasture, seeds and hay or turkey industry tours.

“The first Diversified Agriculture Conference was held in Ephraim at Snow College, and we are happy to be back to that location 10 years later,” said Ruby Ward, conference organizer and USU Extension agribusiness specialist. “This will be a great conference for anyone with livestock. In addition, it is a great place to learn more about managing a farm or ranch business, and it is always a lot of fun.”

Ward said the conference features something for everyone. Students from area high schools are invited to attend to learn about a future in agriculture. Special student registration is available by contacting Ward.

The conference is a result of USU Extension working with many other organizations. Grant funding from the USDA-Risk Management Agency helps keep registration costs low.

Conference registration cost is $40 by Feb. 6 and $60 after and includes Wednesday’s tours and all workshops, breaks and meals on Thursday and Friday. For further information including session and tour descriptions, visit www.diverseag.org or contact Ward at ruby.ward@usu.edu or 435-797-2323.

The economic development directors for Wayne, Piute and Sevier counties have offered to cover registration for their county residents. Contact Ward or visit the website for details.
