Art Museum Thanks Members with Event
Thursday, Mar. 21, 2013
The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art (NEHMA) at Utah State University is holding “Warm Music for a Cold Night” Friday, March 22, at 5 p.m., as a special event to thank VIP members and to welcome new members to the museum.
“Membership is a great way to support new and interesting exhibits in northern Utah and this event is our way at the museum to say ‘thank you’ to our generous supporters,” said Deb Banerjee, interim deputy director of NEHMA.
The event features the Fry Street Quartet, USU’s resident string group and faculty in the Caine College of the Arts, performing selections of Joseph Haydn, Benjamin Britten and Maurice Ravel. The musical program complements the current show Lux, an exhibit exploring how artists use light as a medium or subject matter in their work.
“The museum has a long history of the Fry Street Quartet playing works related to the collection on display,” said Nadra Haffar, education curator of the museum. “We are excited for them to join us for this special occasion.”
The special event is also an opportunity for the museum to welcome new members and provide a break to all from the long, cold winter, event organizers said. Membership to the museum provides patrons free admission to members’ events, previews of exhibit openings, after hours’ access to the museum during VIP hours and access to visiting lecturers and artists.
“The museum is a contemplative place, but also one for questioning, imagination and existential questions,” said Haffar. “Moments created to share those experiences are best shared with other people.”
