North Logan, Utah State agree to Swap Land

By Chelsea Hunter, The Hard News Café, Friday, November 22, 2013

Utah State University and North Logan (City) agreed Wednesday [Nov. 20, 2013] to exchange 5 acres of land to suit each party’s separate requests.

USU has agreed to exchange five acres located at 2150 N. 400 East so the city can put a city center park. North Logan will in return give 2176 N. 400 East to the university, which will serve to accommodate USU’s College of Agriculture program needs.

Each property will be appraised and inspected individually, then the costs will be equally shared between the two parties.

“The value is pretty much straight across, but if you ask me, we’re getting a little better deal,” said city administrator Jeff Jorgensen.

Mayor Lloyd Berentzen had concerns about the university’s understanding of what would happen on that property, such as a road on the corner.

Jorgensen assured the mayor and City Council members that their intentions for the land are all in the agreement, and that the university has recognized their intentions for the use of the land.

After a short discussion, the council voted unanimously to approve the property exchange.
