USU EXTENSION CO-SPONSORS GARFIELD COUNTY BUSINESS CONFERENCE

LOGAN - Utah State University Extension presents the fourth Garfield County Business Conference on Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ruby’s Inn near Bryce Canyon National Park. This year’s conference title is ObamaCare Decisions.

No matter the size of company, business owners must be prepared to comply with the requirements affecting them now. The conference is intended to help employers protect their business and employees from the penalties, fines and taxes mandated by the Affordable Care Act.

Troy Martin from Cook Martin PoulsonCPA firm of Logan will provide a comprehensive, understandable look at the complex issues that make up the Affordable Care Act. Luncheon speaker is Patty Conner, director of Utah's Avenue HHealth Insurance Marketplace. She will discuss Utah’s Small Business Health Options Program, employers’ options and the role of health insurance agents and the exchange. A question and answer session will follow, and ObamaCare informational workshops will be held in the afternoon.

Authorized health insurance agents will be available during the conference to answer questions about their services.

Additional sponsors includeGarfield County, Cook Martin Poulsen P.C., Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development, SUU Small Business Development Center, Arches Health Plan, SelectHealthand Rocky Mountain Power.

Registration cost, which includes lunch and handouts, is $20 per participant by January 22. From January 22 to the day of the event, registration is $25 per participant.
