Plan Now for the Perfect Valentine Gift

It's never too early to plan the perfect gift for a special valentine, and students in Utah State University’s Ceramics Guild have a solution — mugs.

A variety of hand-made mugs will be available at the guild’s "Mug Your Valentine Sale" Friday, Feb. 14, at Luke’s Café on the Quad in the Agricultural Sciences Building. The sale takes place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Guild members say it’s that time of year again when love is in the air and they have been hard at work. They understand everyone’s need to provide a sweetheart the finest handmade mug.

“Potters love seeing their objects put to good use and it’s great to see our mugs go to a loving pair of hands,” said guild president Dave Christopherson. “The students involved with the sale appreciate the support of the community and their peers.”

Proceeds from the event support scholarships for ceramics students to attend the National Council on Education for the Ceramics Arts conference.

“Every year the conference helps renew our love of clay and inspires fresh ideas for our studio,” the organizers said.

With the purchase of a mug, Luke’s Cafe on the Quad will donate a coupon for a free coffee refill at Luke’s, Quadside and the HUB or hot chocolate at the Artist’s Block or the Quick Stop.

“Come over to the new Ag Science Building and 'mug your valentine,’” Christopherson said.
