Utah State’s [University] Seokwon Jeon, along with Boise State’s Logan France and Ty Travis, has been named a Mountain West Men's Tri-Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the league office Wednesday [Feb. 12, 2014].

All three golfers tied for third-place with 4-under 140s at the Southern Utah hosted Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational Feb. 10-11. Utah State finished the tournament tied for fourth-place out of 10 teams with an 8-over 584 (297-287).

Jeon, a sophomore from Salt Lake City, Utah, carded back-to-back rounds of 2-under 70 during the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational for his second-best tournament finish at USU as he now has four top-10 finishes on the season, including winning the 2013 Utah Invitational last fall with a collegiate-best 7-under 206 (67-71-68). Overall, Jeon recorded eight birdies and one eagle during the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational.

Jeon becomes the first-ever Aggie golfer to earn Mountain West men’s golf accolades, as USU is in its first year of membership with the conference. The last Aggie golfer to earn weekly conference accolades is current senior Tanner Higham who was named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week on Feb. 19, 2013.

On the season, Jeon leads the team with a 71.29 stroke average over 17 rounds.

Utah State will continue its spring schedule next week as it travels to City of Industry, Calif., to compete in the Cal State Fullerton hosted Folino Invitational Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 17-18.
