USU Joins Global #GivingTuesday Movement Dec. 1

Utah State University has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity.

Although Dec. 1 is the official #GivingTuesday, donations to the university may be made any time through Dec. 1 and are currently being accepted on the university website. Those giving early have a chance to double a gift to the area of their choice if it is within the first $30,000 in gifts.

“There is something very special about this place,” said USU President Stan L. Albrecht. “Donations to the university have a tremendous impact on our students and programs and heighten our level of excellence in teaching, research, outreach and athletic missions. However, the most important outcomes will likely be found in the sometimes less visible changes in individual lives.”

Donors are invited to spread the spirit of #GivingTuesday by sharing the message on their social media accounts and asked to share how they are giving back by adding the hashtag #unselfie to their posts.

“This is a huge opportunity for the entire campus that helps to reinforce the message that Aggies are giving back to the university in order to help future generations of students,” said Rob Behunin, vice president for advancement and commercialization at USU.

#GivingTuesday is a global event in its fourth year, held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the United States) to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to improve their local communities.
