BBQ with a Side of Scholarships

Utah Agricultural Products Barbecue festivities are set for Saturday, Oct. 7, from noon-2 p.m., prior to the USU vs. Colorado State University football game.
The barbecue is a food festival, celebrating local agricultural products including beef, dairy products, turkey, pork, onion rings, salad, lamb, corn, apples and more, and all for a great cause: scholarships in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (CAAS). This year’s lead sponsor is the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food.
Each year, participating companies and commodity groups donate, prepare and serve the wide array of food at the event, with volunteer support from CAAS students, faculty and staff. The previous 21 barbecues have raised more than $175,000 for scholarships which supported more than 230 students in receiving their educations. Students have benefitted even as the Utah Agricultural Leadership Endowment was being built. This year marks the first time that scholarships have been awarded from the endowment, which has now grown to $100,000 and will provide scholarships in perpetuity.
The event will be held north of the stadium at Craig Aston Park (approximately 1350 N. 800 E., Logan). Tickets are $12 for adults (11 and older), $ 10 for USU students with current ID and $5 for children (ages 3-10). Once guests are through the gates, all food and drinks are included in the admission price.
