| New Mexico's Greene Chili
Fest |
| |
Well somebody should tell how the weekend
went, so here it goes:
The New Mexico Tournament left a bad taste in my mouth for two reasons
1st we ate at this mexican restaurant that had this nasty hot chili
sause and 2nd we went 0-4 for the tournament.
USU 9 Air Force 13 We opened up the tournament playing a not
very good air force team. We dropped or threw away 7 endzone passes.
I am not exagerating. We started getting a little negative and we
could not get a flow going. This team we should have beaten. This
game set the tone for the rest of the day.
USU 8 CSU 13 Once again we open the game up with a lot of almost
awesome plays but we ended up throwing away our opportunities to score.
This is when we started to quit a little. I don't know how we can
fire up our team, but we don't play with any intensity, or desire
to win, or it seems that way. When will someone step up?
USU 10 CU-B 13- This is the only game that I can say that we
got fired up for. Scotty, Eric, and Brandon played well all day but
this game they did everything they could to spark our team. We jumped
on them early and took a 4-0 lead led by their awesome d-fence. But
our mistakes got the better of us as we repeatedly got beat deep and
got stifled on Offense by their 4 man zone. This was our breaking
point and I think we were all bummed.
USU 2 Mines 13 -
We got creamed. There were gale force winds and it was butt cold.
We sucked.
If I sound a little frustrated, well I am. I hope that we all can
learn from these tournaments. I think that we can all agree that we
don't practice enough or hard enough, and we have little team unity.
On the field we play like we have never played together before. I
figure we have two options: Quit or regroup and try to finish this
season winning. As frustrated as I am, and probably the majority of
you are too, I still think that we should really rally together and
make something of the rest of this season. To do this we need everybodies
commitment.
