Academic Experience Subcommittee


Charge

Retention and student success research indicates that the student's academic experience is the most important factor in student persistence. This experience can incorporate what happens inside the classroom, including instructional methods, interaction with instructors and group learning and interchange with peers. Outside-the-classroom experiences may include opportunities to engage in research, being introduced to professional organizations, presenting at national conferences, a campus job or internship that that includes professional training and/or being mentored by a faculty member. To support the academic experience of all students, the Academic Subcommittee is charged with:

  • building on current best academic practices currently at Utah State University to develop and foster the implementation of initiatives that support the academic experience both in and outside the classroom.

  • drawing upon existing and new data resources to develop assessment strategies for academic initiatives as to their impact on retention and student success.

  • Further developing mechanisms to insure all students are receiving academic support and assistance.

The subcommittee consists of a representative from: Academic Resource Center, Career Services, Change in Enrollment programs, College of Education and Human Services, College of Natural Resources, Early Academic Alert Program, Financial Aid, Honors Program, Undergraduate Research, University Advising.
