Adrienne Akers Receives Innovation Award
Adrienne Akers, a senior research scientist at the Center for Persons with Disabilities, was recently awarded one of eight national 2006 Innovation Awards by the Council of State Governments.
Adrienne Akers, a senior research scientist at the Center for Persons with Disabilities, was recently awarded one of eight national 2006 Innovation Awards by the Council of State Governments for her work in the development and implementation of the Universal Application System. Akers serves as a senior research scientist in the Early Intervention Research Institute.
The Innovation Awards highlight outstanding state programs that impact future state policies.
The UAS application process was designed to help families apply for multiple state programs—such as Medicaid, CHIP, WIC and Baby Watch—through an integrated, online process.
In Utah, the UAS is recognized as “Utah Clicks,” and is being replicated in several other states. The UAS is one of approximately 65 projects operating through the CPD at Utah State University.
The award will be formally presented to Akers at the CSG Annual State Trends and Leadership Forum in Phoenix in December.
