Wildland Resources Grad Students to Present Research Ideas
Grad student Sarah Gallagher discusses translocation, a common wildlife management strategy, at the April 11 Wildland Resources Department Pre-Project Symposium.
Luke Zachmann, left, an April 11 presenter, is studying competition and climate effects on plant communities across the American West.
Graduate students in Utah State University’s College of Natural Resources present a range of research ideas during the third annual Wildland Resources Department Pre-Project Symposium Friday, April 11. The campus community is invited to hear about projects being undertaken by 18 master’s and doctoral candidates from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in USU Eccles Conference Center, rooms 303-305.
“This event allows new graduate students to present their research and attain feedback from their peers and advisors, and for our whole department to showcase the depth and breadth of research we’re conducting,” says Karen Beard, assistant professor and director of graduate studies.
Graduate programs offered by the department include ecology, forestry, range science and wildlife biology. Friday’s presentations range from sagebrush steppe conservation and predator ecology to invasive weed and wildfire mitigation. A complete symposium schedule is available online.
