Executive Director Named for USU Distance Education

Thursday, Apr. 24, 2008

Robert Wagner
Robert Wagner was named executive director of Regional Campuses and Distance Education at Utah State University.
Robert Wagner was named executive director of Regional Campuses and Distance Education at Utah State University.

Wagner came to USU in August 2007 as assistant vice provost for RCDE. Prior to coming to Logan, he earned a doctorate in political science from the University of Albany. While attending, Wagner also served as special assistant to the president, aiding in higher education and economic development and legislative agendas. He has also served as an adjunct instructor of political science.
“Since Dr. Wagner has been working with Regional Campuses and Distance Education, he is already familiar with the organization’s structure, the people and the process of delivering distance degrees,” said Ronda Menlove, vice provost for RCDE. “He is a great leader and has a strong desire to serve the citizens of Utah by helping provide higher education throughout the state. We are delighted to have him serving in this new capacity.”
Wagner said his top priority is to keep USU on the cutting-edge in distance education while building and strengthening positive relationships with its campus departments, faculty and partner institutions.
“This new position will enable me to better understand the innovative education delivery for which Utah State University is known,” Wagner said. “I am very excited to work with such a talented distance education team.”
Wagner earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brigham Young University and earned his master’s of public administration from the University of Utah. He has also published multiple works, one of which was co-authored by former USU President Kermit L. Hall.
