Scalia Decries Judicial Activism

Called the “next best thing to a rock star in the judiciary world,” U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia appeared Monday afternoon at Utah State University and drew an overflow crowd. Scalia’s speech criticizing judicial activism drew more than 1,700 people, one of the largest turnouts for a speaker USU has ever seen, a university spokesperson said. Scalia said he originally thought about talking about originalism, or the idea the U.S. Constitution’s meaning is fixed.
