Graduate Students Receive Scholarships and Fellowships
Several graduate scholarship-fellowship recipients gathered for a group photo.
Every year Utah State University awards several scholarships and fellowships to deserving graduate students.
The Presidential Fellowship includes a $12,000 stipend for the academic year and a waiver of the non-resident portion of tuition. Criteria for this fellowship include a 3.5 GPA and quantitative and verbal GRE scores at the 70th percentile or above. This year’s recipients include:

The Vice President for Research Fellowship includes a $15,000 stipend for the academic year and a waiver of the non-resident portion of tuition. Criteria include a 3.5 GPA and quantitative and verbal GRE scores at the 70th percentile or above. In addition, the student must be in a research degree program that includes a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation. Recipients include:

The Dissertation Fellowship for $5,000 is intended to provide outstanding doctoral students with additional time to draft and revise their dissertations as many doctoral students have difficulty finishing in a timely manner due to the need to teach or serve as research assistants. The Martin Luther King Fellowship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Allen W. Stokes in 1968 to assist deserving African American students achieve a graduate education at USU. It awards $7,500 to a deserving student.
*Odessia Knowles; Houston, Texas; Psychology
The Dr. Dinesh and Kalpana Patel Doctoral Graduate Fellowship for $5,000 is awarded to underrepresented and international doctoral students. It was established by the Patels as a way for others to benefit from a higher education in the United States, just as Dr. Patel did. He graduated from the University of Michigan and co-founded the Salt Lake City-based biotechnology firm, Thera Tech, Inc., in 1985, which he eventually sold for $350 million.

The Seeley-Hinckley scholarship is for outstanding graduate students who face serious financial difficulties. It awards in-state tuition for up to nine credits and student fees for two semesters.
