USU Board of Trustees Elect Chairwoman

Tuesday, May. 19, 2009

Suzanne Pierce-Moore, USU Board of Trustees chairwoman
Suzanne Pierce-Moore
Suzanne Pierce-Moore was elected chairwoman of the Utah State University Board of Trustees May 15 during a regular session of the institution’s top governing board.

Pierce-Moore has been a member of the USU Board of Trustees for three years, two as vice-chair. She replaces Richard Shipley, who held the chair position four of the six years he has served on the university’s governing board.

“I am honored and thrilled for this opportunity,” she said. “I look forward to continuing my close association with outstanding individuals who deeply care about Utah State University.”

Pierce-Moore said she and her husband, David, a former USU trustee, feel a strong connection and commitment to USU. She said she will use her leadership role to further the university’s educational access to students statewide, to help highlight the university’s role as an economic engine and to help complete the university’s 2012 comprehensive campaign.

Pierce-Moore received a bachelor’s degree from USU in 1980 and a master’s degree in Human Resource Economics in 1981 from the University of Utah.

She has served on several university and community advisory boards and foundations, including the Park City Education Foundation, the USU Jon M. Huntsman School of Business Advancement Board and as a sustaining advisor and vice president of communications with the Junior League of Salt Lake City.

In 2002, Pierce-Moore was inducted into the Utah State University Hall of Honor. She and her husband reside in Park City, Utah.
