Campus Construction: Huntsman School of Business Project Begins
Tuesday, Jun. 12, 2012
Preparation work for the next major construction project on the Utah State University Logan campus begins the week of June 11-15.
The first phase of work for the Huntsman School of Business project is now beginning, including work to extend the underground utility tunnel from its current ending point, north of the new College of Agricultural Sciences Building, to the northeast corner of the existing George S. Eccles Business Building.
According to Joe Beck, project coordinator with USU Facilities, the area will be fenced from pedestrians and vehicles for the duration of the project. The affected areas include the existing parking lot between the business building and the College of Agriculture building, as well as the landscape area south of the main east-west sidewalk in front of the business building.
The northeast entrance of the Eccles Business Building will be maintained as operable throughout the construction.
The design of the new addition project is underway for the Huntsman School, and the schematic design phase is under review by various groups. The target for final design completion is fall/winter 2012, with the new building’s construction beginning January 2013.
The project’s next phase is the demolition of Lund Hall. Documentation of the structure has been completed to provide a record of the existing building before it is torn down to make room for the new project. Demolition of Lund Hall is scheduled for late September 2012.
