Thursday, Jun. 21, 2012
The National Children’s Study in Cache County holds “Celebrating Parenthood: Building Strong and Healthy Relationships” Saturday, June 23. The free educational seminar is open to everyone. Sessions are held at the Logan Regional Hospital’s Women and Newborn Center from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
“A child brings new relationships to life — with doctors, spouses and, yes, your child,” said Amy Anderson communication liaison with the National Children’s Study Cache County. “We invite people to the sessions to learn how to create lasting and healthy bonds that support a child’s development.”
The keynote address features Laura Lyons, a certified Gottman educator. She presents “Bringing Baby Home: Managing Change in a Couple’s Relationship,” from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Following the keynote, two breakout sessions are planned.
The first breakout session runs from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Attendees can choose “Building a Relationship with Your Child’s Doctor” with Dr. Brad Goates or “Touchpoints” with Azielle Jensen.
Choices for the 11:15-noon breakouts include “Bonding with Baby through Infant Massage” with Vonda Jump or “Nursing and Dad” with Sandy Ballard, a lactation consultant.
A light lunch for registered guests is included at noon. All events are free but registration is requested for an accurate lunch count. Call the National Children’s Study Cache County to preregister for lunch or with questions, 435-797-9000.
